Dr. Erika Venable – Johnson, DVM
Founder & Mobile Veterinarian
Dr. Erika Johnson is the heart of our practice — a trusted mobile veterinarian in Chester, VA, with a passion for providing gentle, high-quality care directly in the homes of her patients.
A 2003 graduate of Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Johnson began her journey in animal care with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from James Madison University. She is a proud member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA), and the District of Columbia Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and continues to participate in ongoing education to stay at the forefront of modern veterinary care.
Dr. Johnson’s deep commitment to her patients is rooted in both experience and empathy. After years of working in a variety of small animal clinics — both stationary and mobile — she founded Dr. Johnson’s Mobile Veterinary Service in 2015. Her mission was clear: to create a veterinary practice built on trust, compassion, and comfort, offering pet owners a more personal, less stressful alternative to traditional clinic care.
Having grown up in a military family, Dr. Johnson brings a strong sense of discipline, respect, and adaptability to her practice. She understands the importance of flexibility, communication, and reliable support — qualities that define her approach to mobile veterinary care.
She lives in Chester, VA, with her husband, Rodney, their two children, Mya and Tyler, and their beloved dogs, Fluffy and Paris. Outside of veterinary work, she enjoys family time, community engagement, and helping pet owners make informed, confident decisions about their pets’ health.
Mya Johnson
Veterinary Assistant
Hi! My name is Mya Johnson. I have been a veterinary assistant for Dr. Johnson for about 5 years. I am a seasonal employee, and I help my mom, Dr. Johnson, when I am home during my breaks from college. I love working with all types of animals, and a lot of our clients have become part of our family. I am currently a college student, majoring in Health Science, and I plan to pursue a master’s in public health with a concentration in zoology after I graduate in 2006. When I am not assisting and loving on your fur babies, I love to do make-up, hair, and photography in my free time.
Maureen Langston
Maureen has over 20 years of animal care experience, ranging from wildlife rehabilitation volunteer, dog walking, doggie day care, and vet assistant. She loves all animals, especially the sweet older ones. She has three cats, a feisty Pomeranian named Fizzgig, a 31-year-old box turtle, and some fish. She is a proud mom of a teenage son, plays cello, practices yoga, and loves dancing in her free time. She is compassionate, patient, and trained in fear free handling techniques, and will treat your pets with infinite love and kindness.
